Questions
WARDOGS FAQ
The questions people are actually asking, answered honestly — including the ones where the honest answer is "nobody knows yet".
When does WARDOGS come out? Confirmed
WARDOGS is launching into Steam Early Access in 2026. Bulkhead has not announced an exact calendar date, and no reliable leak of one exists.
Expect one to two years in Early Access before a 1.0 release — that range comes from the Steam page itself, not from speculation.
When is the WARDOGS Closed Alpha? Confirmed
7 to 9 August 2026, on Steam, invite only.
Bulkhead has published the dates but not a start time or time zone, so treat any countdown you see — including the one on this site — as counting to the earliest possible moment rather than a announced one.
How do I get into the Closed Alpha? Confirmed
Create a FirstLook account at community.wardogs.com, join the official Discord, link Steam and Discord to FirstLook, and complete the hardware survey. Wishlisting on Steam with a public wishlist is listed as helping.
One caveat most coverage leaves out: the hardware survey deadline for the first round of invites was 16 July 2026 and has passed. Signing up now puts you in line for a later wave, if there is one.
How much will WARDOGS cost? Unconfirmed
No price has been announced. Any figure you see quoted is somebody’s guess, usually extrapolated from other Team17 Early Access titles.
The Closed Alpha is free to invited players — it is a test, not a paid early-buy.
Is WARDOGS coming to PS5 or Xbox? Unconfirmed
Only PC, via Steam, has been announced.
No console version exists on any official page. Bulkhead has also not said one will never happen — “not announced” and “not coming” are different things, and shipping to console after Early Access is a common pattern for this kind of game.
Does WARDOGS have classes? Confirmed
No. This is one of the most commonly misreported things about the game.
There are no fixed classes. You start every life with $10,000 and buy your own weapons, equipment and vehicles. Your role is whatever you just spent money on, and you can change it on your next spawn.
You will see lists of “six classes” in circulation. Team17’s own page describes the game as built around player choice rather than prescribed roles, so treat those lists with suspicion.
Is WARDOGS a battle royale or an extraction shooter? Confirmed
Neither, and the distinction matters if you are deciding whether to care about it.
There is no shrinking circle and nothing to extract. Three teams fight over a randomised 2 × 2 km Control Zone and the first to 100 points wins the match. You respawn, you buy a new loadout, you go again — the pressure comes from holding ground, not from a timer squeezing you into a smaller map.
The closest reference point is King of the Hill, the Arma 3 community mode Bulkhead has openly cited as the inspiration.
Will WARDOGS be pay-to-win or have a battle pass? Unconfirmed
Unknown. Bulkhead has not published a monetisation page.
You will see “cosmetics only, no battle pass, no pay-to-win” repeated confidently across fan sites and comment threads. We cannot find it stated on an official Bulkhead, Team17 or Steam page, so it is labelled unconfirmed here rather than presented as settled.
The in-match cash economy is a separate thing and is not a purchase — the $10,000 you spend each life is earned in the match, not bought.
What are the system requirements? Confirmed
Minimum is a GTX 1660 / RX 590 with an i5-8600 / Ryzen 5 3500 and 16 GB RAM. Recommended steps up to an RTX 3070 / RX 6700 XT with an i7-12700K / Ryzen 7 5700X. Either way you need 50 GB free.
Note that 16 GB of RAM appears in both columns, so memory is a floor rather than a place to gain headroom.
A note on the unconfirmed answers
Three answers here amount to "not announced". That is deliberate. WARDOGS is a pre-release game and the pressure on a site like this is to fill those gaps with a confident guess, because a confident guess ranks. We would rather be the page you can trust in October than the one that got the click in August.
