WARDOGS error 1413677057: an unexpected error has occurred

Published Updated Data as of Season 2 · 15 Oct 2026

This one is not your machine

The game could not get an answer from the online services at load. It clustered on the busiest beta and launch days, and now also recurs in a sharp, roughly hour-long spike most Tuesday evenings around 6pm ET — timing that lines up with Steam's own maintenance window rather than anything WARDOGS-specific. Nothing about it points at your install.

What you see

A dialog at game load reading "Error Code: 1413677057. An unexpected error has occurred." — and nothing else. The game does not reach the server browser. One player reporting it also had voice chat dead and could not reach WARDOGS sites without a VPN.

What to do instead

The cause is not on your machine, so reinstalling and verifying will not reach it. These are the things that actually help while it lasts.

  1. 01 If it's a Tuesday evening, wait — this is a recurring pattern, not your install

    Reported

Traffic to this page and to the status feed has spiked in the same roughly-6pm-ET hour on two consecutive Tuesdays (15 and 22 September), timing that lines up with Steam's own unpublished weekly maintenance window. See the full breakdown: [why WARDOGS breaks every Tuesday around 6pm ET](/blog/wardogs-tuesday-outage-pattern/). Both times it cleared inside the hour on its own.

  2. 02 Check whether the services are struggling before touching anything

    Reported

Reports of this code cluster on the busiest days so far, the beta weekend and the first two days of Early Access, alongside the login-queue and player-session faults. If our status page is collecting reports, the code is the services, not your machine.

  3. 03 Restart Steam completely and try again

    Reported

A full exit and relaunch of Steam, not just the game. The generic load-time errors in this family clear on a retry once the services answer.

  4. 04 Test another network if WARDOGS sites also fail to load

    Reported

One report paired this code with the official sites being unreachable without a VPN, which points at the network path rather than the game. A phone hotspot is the quickest test.

  5. 05 If you renamed your Windows user folder by hand, suspect that first

    Unconfirmed

One report of 1413677057 on 12 September followed renaming the folders under C:\Users from Chinese to English to get round path problems in other software. A hand-renamed profile folder leaves anything that remembered the old path looking in the wrong place. It is a single case, so if you have not touched your user folder, skip this step.

  6. 06 Do not reinstall over this one

    Reported

No report of this code has been traced to a broken install. If the retry does nothing, the answer is the status page, not the download.

Did this fix it for you?

Notes from other players who hit this code. Say what worked, what did not, and which region you are in — a fix that only works in one place is worth knowing about. Best-rated first, and there is no time limit: an answer from the first beta is still an answer.

No comments yet. Be the first to say whether this worked.

This code has no fix thread anywhere — not on Steam, not in the Discord fix channels — which is worth knowing in itself: nobody has traced it to anything a player did. What the reports share is timing. The first wave arrived on 4–5 September, while Closed Beta 02 was live and the same evenings the login queue and player-session faults were peaking.

It now recurs most Tuesday evenings

Since launch, this code has settled into a weekly pattern: a sharp spike in reports, and in traffic to this page, concentrated in roughly one hour around 6pm ET on a Tuesday. It happened on 15 September and again on 22 September, both times clearing on their own inside the hour. The timing lines up with Steam's own maintenance window rather than anything specific to WARDOGS — see the full data breakdown for the traffic numbers and why we think that, and what's still unconfirmed about it.

It came back at launch

On 11 and 12 September, with Early Access open and the servers carrying several times the beta's load, the same dialog returned to the feed here, bare codes pasted with nothing else, and with it a sibling ending in 069: 1413677069. Same wording, same point in the load, same days as the queue and kick reports. Treat them as one fault until something separates them.

The shape of it — a generic "unexpected error" at load, before the server browser — puts it in the same family as error 1628505085: the game asking the online services a question and not getting an answer. If the code appears outside a test window, that is the whole explanation — there is nothing to log into yet.

The one report that differed had the code alongside dead voice chat and WARDOGS sites unreachable without a VPN, which describes a network path failing rather than a game failing. If the status page loads fine for you, that variant is not yours.
