WARDOGS towers, and what the code does
Towers are the objective on top of the objective. The match is scored on holding the Control Zone; the towers decide where the Hot Zone inside it goes. Capture one and your team gets a digit; get all four digits and you can pull the double-cash ground towards a tower you already hold.
A shifting sub-zone inside the Control Zone — double points, double cash
Players inside it count double towards their team's zone count, which Bulkhead describes as match-swinging.
Bulkhead, "WARDOGS — TOP QUESTIONS", Steam, 18 February 2026 ↗What towers are
ReportedEvery WARDOGS match is King of the Hill: three factions, one randomised 2 × 2 km Control Zone, and points for the players you keep inside it. The Hot Zone is the smaller area within it where everything counts double — points and cash — and where a player inside counts as two towards the zone.
The towers are fixed structures on the map, each with a control panel. They are the one part of the match a team can steer: capturing them is how you influence where the Hot Zone sits, and a team that builds its base at a tower it holds is fighting for double cash on ground it has already fortified. Bulkhead's own explainer of the mode is the source of record for how it is meant to work; the specifics below are how players describe it from the betas. Bulkhead, "WARDOGS | Game Mode Explained", YouTube ↗
How to capture a tower
Reported- Clear it. Enemy players holding the tower have to be dead or gone before the panel will respond.
- Wait out the cooldown. Once the area is clear the control panel goes through a short lockout. Standing on it early does nothing.
- Interact with the control panel. The capture is a press at the panel, not a timer for standing in a circle, which is why one player left alive inside can stop it.
- Hold it. A captured tower can be taken back the same way, and a team that loses one loses the digit's use with it.
What the tower code does
ReportedEach tower your team captures reveals one digit of a four-digit code. With all four, someone enters the code at the terminal on the tower your faction has made its own — the one with your base built at it — and the Hot Zone starts pulling towards that tower. Double points and double cash then land on ground you chose and fortified, which is the whole reason to bother with towers at all.
The code is different every match, so nothing carries over, and because the Hot Zone moves rather than jumps, the other two factions get warning. Expect the fight to follow it.
Where the towers are
ReportedRead from the map files' own place names, positioned where the game puts them. Bulkhead has never published a tower name, so treat these as accurate to the build and liable to change.

ReportedTwo threads ran through both betas. One is that the towers are never explained in game — the tutorial does not cover them, which is why "why towers system not explained" is a Reddit thread and not a settled question. The other is that they reward camping: a team dug in at a tower with a recon on the roof is hard to move, and "towers should be reworked" was one of the loudest developer-forum debates after the first beta. Both are real. Neither has had an answer from Bulkhead.
Questions
- What are the towers in WARDOGS?
- Fixed structures on each map that the three factions capture. Each holds a control panel; taking it gives your team one digit of a four-digit code, and a full code entered at your own tower pulls the Hot Zone — the part of the Control Zone worth double points and double cash — towards it. They are the objective layer on top of the King of the Hill scoring.
- How many towers are there in WARDOGS?
- 1 on Bakurani plus 4 abandoned ones the map names but which do not count; 0 on Ozeti. The names and positions are the map files' own.
- How do you capture a tower in WARDOGS?
- Clear the enemy players holding it, wait out the short cooldown the control panel enters once the area is clear, then interact with the panel. Players describe it as a hold-and-press rather than a timed zone, and a tower can be taken back the same way.
- What does the tower code do in WARDOGS?
- Each captured tower reveals one digit of a four-digit code. With all four, a team enters the code at the terminal on its own tower — the one it has built up as its base — and the Hot Zone begins moving towards that tower. The code changes every match, so digits do not carry over.
