Can you switch teams mid-match in WARDOGS?
Yes, for now. Players report that WARDOGS lets you change team during a match on official servers, and that some use it to cross to the other side and sabotage the team they left. Bulkhead listed Team Switching Controls among its upcoming features on 12 September 2026 without a date or any detail, and has not said whether switching has a cooldown or costs you anything. Yes, for now. WARDOGS lets you change team partway through a match, and since launch players have been describing what that gets used for: crossing to another side, then opening a walled FOB's gates or wrecking the logistics of the team they just left. Several Steam threads on 14 and 15 September describe the same pattern, and none of them has a developer reply.
What Bulkhead has said
One line, and it is a promise rather than a rule. Patch 0.11's list of upcoming features, published on 12 September, includes Team Switching Controls, alongside community-server favouriting, priority queues and a message of the day. Bulkhead's framing for the whole list:

The list sits in the post's community-server section, so it may turn out to be a setting for server admins rather than a lock on official servers. The post does not say which, and it gives no date.
What nobody has said
- Whether there is a cooldown or a team-balance lock on switching.
- Whether switching costs you the cash or loot you were carrying.
- Whether the coming controls apply to official servers or only to community ones.
If someone switches to sabotage your team
