At 05:00 UTC on launch day, eleven hours before the Steam unlock, Bulkhead posted three lines. Two were the launch. The third was the answer to the question the studio had been asked all year: "COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028."
What it settles
Consoles were never in doubt — only the timing was. Asked directly on camera in the March 2026 "Answering Your Questions" update, Bulkhead said: "We absolutely want to come to Xbox and PlayStation. Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about you guys. We're coming to console. That's our plan, we just don't know when."
That "when" now has a year attached to it, and it is the studio's own figure rather than an outlet's expectation. The consoles page carries it as confirmed.
What it does not settle
There is no month and no quarter, and nothing in the post says whether PlayStation and Xbox arrive together or one after the other. Crossplay and cross-progression remain unannounced in both directions — what changed is that the question now has a deadline rather than an answer.
The 2027 figure was wrong
A 2027 console arrival has circulated since a PlayStation Universe piece on 12 August 2026 attributed it to Bulkhead without quoting a statement. We could not find one, so this site carried it as reported rather than repeating it as fact. The studio's own answer is a year later.
Where 2028 sits
It is the same year Early Access is due to end. Bulkhead expects 12 to 24 months in Early Access before the $59.99 1.0 release, which puts 1.0 around September 2028 — so the console versions are pointed at the year the PC version stops being unfinished rather than at some point during the Early Access run. Bulkhead has not linked the two anywhere; that reading is ours.
Two years is a long runway on a promise, from a studio that a week ago declined to commit to Linux support for launch rather than promise it and miss. The year is now on the record, which is what makes it something to hold them to.
