Does WARDOGS support mods?

Published Data as of Season 1 · 10 Sept 2026

No official mod support, Steam Workshop, or modding tools have been announced. Bulkhead has not ruled it out, but nothing has been confirmed either. Community servers do exist through three approved hosts, with an RCON admin tool for map and mode control, but that is server administration, not modding, and the underlying server code is not released to anyone.

No. As of 23 September 2026, Bulkhead has not announced mod support, a Steam Workshop integration, a map or scenario editor, or any modding tools for WARDOGS. Nothing rules it out either — the studio simply hasn't said.

What we found, and what we're labelling Unconfirmed

Players have asked directly. A Steam Discussions thread asks whether there are "plans for modding tools or community-created game modes", and a separate thread asks "Will this game have mod support?". Neither has a confirmed developer reply committing to modding. We're carrying "Bulkhead sounded positive about it in a development video" as Unconfirmed — it's a community characterisation of a developer's tone, not a quoted statement, and we couldn't independently source a specific Bulkhead quote committing to future mod tools.

We could not find a Bulkhead post on X or the Steam news hub that addresses modding directly, in either direction.

What does exist: community servers, not mods

WARDOGS does have community-run servers through three Bulkhead-approved hosts — QONZER, BisectHosting and xREALM — but that is server hosting, not modding. Bulkhead has been clear about the distinction, announcing the hosts: "We do not release our server code for anyone to be able to host a server," so nobody can run a modified server binary even if they wanted to.

What server admins do get is an RCON admin tool that lets them control a rented server live: choosing maps and game modes on day one, with Bulkhead saying more control comes later "subject to the economy." That's operational control over official content, not the ability to add custom content, maps, or code.

Where this could change

Bulkhead's own messaging around Early Access points toward a content-limited launch — the studio has said players should not expect regular content drops during Early Access, with development effort going to the metagame and bug fixes instead. Mod support, if it ever arrives, would most plausibly be a post-1.0 decision rather than an Early Access one, but that is our reading of the studio's stated priorities, not something Bulkhead has said.

If you're weighing whether WARDOGS fits a long-term modding-focused community the way Arma does, our WARDOGS vs Arma 3 comparison covers how the two differ beyond mods, including scale, economy and server structure.

We'll update this page the moment Bulkhead says anything concrete, in either direction.
