How do you play music in a WARDOGS helicopter?
You unlock a music tape from the progression screen once you reach the right Driver or Pilot level, equip it like ammo in a vehicle's buy menu — its slot sits to the right of Ammo and Logistics — and play it from the F menu once equipped. It works in helicopters and other player-driven vehicles. No vendor sells it for cash. The one tape Bulkhead has priced publicly, Music Tape H, unlocks at Driver level 23 for $2,500 in Season 1.
Unlock a music tape, equip it like ammo, then play it from the F menu. The MUSIC TAPE is a vehicle item bought from the progression screen rather than an in-match vendor. Once you own one, open a vehicle's buy menu — the items tab sits to the right of Ammo and Logistics — equip the tape there, and trigger playback from the F menu. It works in helicopters and in other player-driven vehicles.
Where the tape comes from
WARDOGS does not sell a music tape for cash at the vendor screen. The build's own data carries no
vendor price for it (hasVendorPrice: false), and our equipment record,
written from the alpha build's data, describes it this way:
Playable music tape in vehicles. Bought from the progression screen, then equipped like ammo: in a vehicle's buy menu, the items tab sits to the right of ammo and logistics. Played from the F menu once it is equipped.
That is Reported: it comes from the alpha build's files and our reading of them, not from a Bulkhead statement, so treat the mechanic as accurate but not officially documented.
Which level unlocks it, and what it costs
One tape is Confirmed. Bulkhead's Season 1 changelog (9 September 2026) moved Music Tape H from Pilot level 28 to Driver level 23 and cut its unlock cost from $5,000 to $2,500. That is the only tape the studio has named with a level and a price.
The rest are Unconfirmed in detail. A separate progression snapshot recovered from the game's back-end data lists nine individual music tapes gated across the Driver and Pilot tracks, from level 5 up to level 30, rather than one tape unlocked once. That snapshot has matched every other figure it can be checked against on this site, which is why it is carried at all, but beyond Music Tape H no individual tape's level or cost has been confirmed, so none is published here. Until an official list or a screenshot settles it, assume tapes unlock gradually as you level Driver or Pilot rather than all at once.
Why helicopters specifically
Bulkhead's own data does not single out helicopters — it says "vehicles" generally. The helicopter connection comes from players: our guide to flying WARDOGS helicopters notes that because tapes unlock by pilot level, a pilot playing music out of the aircraft has visibly put the hours into the Pilot track — players use it as an informal signal of an experienced pilot before they climb aboard. That is a community reading of an official mechanic, not a stated design goal.
For everything else the game sells through the same Items tab — grenades, medical gear, recon kit — see the full equipment list. For what your cash actually buys once you are in a vehicle, the Black Market and Vault cover the out-of-match side of the economy.
