$1.50

Base damage is where the round starts, before the load, armour, range and where you hit it come off — the same figure our time-to-kill study works from. It is not what a shot takes off a player.

The three loads

price per round
  • 5.56×45mm Full Metal Jacket box

    Full Metal Jacket

    $1.50a round

Standard ammunition. Deals even damage to all target types.

Tracer variant available at the same price

  • 5.56×45mm Hollow Point box

    Hollow Point

    $4a round

    2.7× standard

Increased damage against flesh. Decreased damage against armored targets.

Tracer variant available at the same price

  • 5.56×45mm Armor Piercing box

    Armor Piercing

    $2.50a round

    1.7× standard

Meant for armoured targets. How much it actually gets through a plate has never been published.

Tracer variant available at the same price

The round itself

same for every gun that chambers it

5.56×45mm hits for 28 against a 100-health target, so 4 clean hits with no armour in the way. It penetrates, and skips off anything it strikes shallower than 10°.

Speed here is the projectile's own. Each weapon carries a second, higher figure of its own, and nothing yet settles which one governs a shot in flight — so the two are kept apart rather than reconciled. Damage is before armour; what a plate takes off it is on the gear pages.

How to read this

The box price is the list price, taken straight off the vendor in the Closed Alpha and carrying none of the −50% recruit discount the weapon and vehicle tiles did — so it compares directly with what a weapon costs.

The price per round is arithmetic, not a printed number. It is the difference between a loaded magazine and an empty one, divided by what the magazine holds, checked against every magazine that takes the calibre. The vendor charges those two prices; it never prints this one.

A box works out at 10 rounds — $15 over $1.50. Every calibre with both figures lands on exactly 5 or 10, which says boxes hold a fixed count without saying which. Nothing in the game states a box size, so this is a division rather than a fact.

The weapon list is checked three ways — what each weapon prints on its own vendor card, what the game files it under, and which magazines it takes. All three agree.

The loads are a real choice with no published maths behind it. They are separate rounds at separate prices. How much more Hollow Point takes off an unarmoured target, and how much Armor Piercing gets through a plate, has never been published — so nothing here puts a figure on it.
