WARDOGS kernelbase.dll crash

Published Data as of Season 1 · 10 Sept 2026

This one is on your machine

Verify game files and reboot. If it comes back, turn off upscaling and hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.

What you see

A crash naming kernelbase.dll, either at launch or partway through a session.

Also reported as: faulting module kernelbase

Fixes, in the order worth trying

Work top to bottom and stop when the game launches. Each step is labelled with how much evidence sits behind it, so you can skip the guesses if the first ones work.

  1. 01 Verify integrity of game files, then reboot

    Confirmed

Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Reboot even if it reports nothing wrong.

  2. 02 Turn off DLSS and FSR

    Reported

In-game first, and then in the NVIDIA or AMD control panel, since a driver-level override survives the in-game setting.

  3. 03 Disable hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Windows game optimisations

    Reported

Settings → System → Display → Graphics → Default graphics settings. Both need a reboot.

Did this fix it for you?

Notes from other players who hit this code. Say what worked, what did not, and which region you are in — a fix that only works in one place is worth knowing about. Best-rated first, and there is no time limit: an answer from the first beta is still an answer.

No comments yet. Be the first to say whether this worked.

kernelbase.dll is where Windows reports an unhandled exception that came from somewhere else, so the name in the dump is rarely the actual culprit. That is why the fix list starts with a file verify rather than anything to do with that DLL: a corrupt or partial install throws exceptions that surface here.

Upscaling is second on the list because the graphics-side crashes under this game cluster hard around DLSS, FSR and frame generation. If disabling them fixes it, reintroduce them one at a time after the next patch to find which one your machine objects to.
