Bulkhead on Season 2: four new weapons, Level 4 helmet, rain and fog

On the Push to Talk podcast, Bulkhead said Season 2 adds four weapons (one per class), a Level 4 helmet, custom rain and fog, and a higher minimum parachute height.

A German Shepherd in goggles and a tactical vest runs through rubble ahead of soldiers at sunset, with helicopters over a burning ruined building, beneath large WARDOGS Season 2 lettering.

Season 2 brings four new weapons, one for each of assault, medic, support and recon. Joe Brammer said so on the Push to Talk podcast, published on 2 October with Bulkhead's creative director Tim Nightingale and technical designer Mark Tadros. They also showed off a Level 4 helmet, a new rain and fog system and a change to parachutes. Season 2 is dated 15 October. That date comes from Bulkhead's Steam post, not this podcast.

The episode appears to have been recorded around 29 September. The developers call the Windows update fix due "tomorrow morning", and that fix shipped in Update 0.1.2 on 30 September.

What is coming in Season 2?

What What Bulkhead said Status
Four weapons "There's one for assault, one for medic, one for support and one for recon." Confirmed
Recon weapon Named on the call as an M40. The developers said in-game names differ from the real ones and promised to confirm it on X. Unconfirmed name
Level 4 helmet "Tier four armor, helmet", with a visor that cannot be lifted and a "little vision issue". Confirmed
Rain and fog Rain lands on vehicles and guns, windows run with water, and fog sits over the map when you fly in. Confirmed
Parachutes The minimum height to open one is going up. No new figure was given. Confirmed, no number

The four weapons are the only ones Bulkhead has committed to. "Letterbox", said when the hosts asked for names, is not clearly a weapon: the next line was that it is "a British word, so they might need to be something else".

Will rain and fog hurt performance?

Bulkhead says it would not ship them if it did. "We wouldn't do it if we couldn't maintain performance," Brammer said, with one caveat: players below minimum spec, on a GTX 1070 or 1080, may lose "a frame or two". The weather is a custom system rather than Ultra Dynamic Sky, which the team says it started with four years ago. Check your PC against the official specs →

Why are parachutes changing?

The minimum height was meant to be 25 metres, but a miscommunication shipped it at 2.5. Bulkhead is raising it, mainly with pilots in mind, and expects pushback: "No one has asked us to do this, no player wants us to do this." The developers admitted the change takes away the point of the sport parachute, which was meant to open later.

What else did they say?

  • Squad intentions went into the team's internal build that day, so squadmates can see what each other are doing. No release date.
  • Seasons have no fixed length. "It can be a month, it can be six weeks. It can be three months," Brammer said, after Nightingale suggested one-month seasons. When progress wipes →
  • More content, faster. Brammer said the studio is "trying to deliver content faster than we were previously", and named more ammo types alongside the weapons.
  • Cheating cost two weeks. Brammer said Nightingale and Tadros "have basically lost two weeks to anti-cheat hackers".
  • Server browser spam. Servers that put an exclamation mark at the start of their names to jump to the top of the list are being dealt with, and hosts are being asked to remove repeat offenders. Community servers →

What did they not say?

No weapon stats, no new map, no patch notes and no time on 15 October. The podcast also ran through progression and the economy in detail. We are writing that up separately. Does WARDOGS have a roadmap? →
