Season 2 preview: four new weapons, a T-72, Molotovs and a Wager Vendor

Bulkhead's Season 02 preview names four weapons, four vehicles, a Molotov, three buildables, rain, an experimental Wager Vendor and a Lonestar faction experiment. Season 2 is still 15 October; full patch notes come early next week.

Season 2 adds four weapons, four vehicles, a Molotov, three buildables and a rain preset. Bulkhead posted the list on the Steam news hub at 16:00 UTC on 9 October, alongside a new devlog video that recaps Season 1. The date has not moved: "WARDOGS Season 2 releases October 15, 2026." Full patch notes, with every balance change and the maintenance window, are due early next week.

Bulkhead calls this "the surface" of the update and says it is still being worked on before the details are locked, so treat the list as confirmed in intent rather than final.

The four guns match what the developers promised on the Push to Talk podcast, one per class. The recon pick is the M14, a DMR, not the "M40" named on that call. No prices, stats or unlock levels yet.

How does rain change fights?

Rain reaches into how a match sounds as well as how it looks. Bulkhead says it changes visibility, engagement ranges and audio, and interacts with damaged and destroyed buildings. Thunder is synchronised across the whole server and can briefly mask footsteps. The fog shown on the podcast is not in this post. Check your PC against the official specs →

What is the Wager Vendor?

An optional vendor that lets you bet cash on your own performance. You pick objectives, such as kills in the hot zone or delivering players, set how many deaths you are allowed, then set a stake. More objectives on one wager means longer odds and a bigger payout, and a tracker above the minimap shows the stake and your progress.

Bulkhead calls it "a genuinely experimental Early Access feature" and says it may pull it during the season "if it turns out to be too exploitable". How cash works now →

What balance changes are confirmed?

  • Infrared Rangefinder: now runs on batteries. It was pulled from the vendor on 2 October until Season 2 for exactly this change.
  • Helmets: the Super Heavy Helmet gets muffled audio, a restricted field of view, and fogs over when you sprint. Heavy and Super Heavy helmets also get more suppression resistance.
  • Weapons: damage, recoil and suppression adjustments to give each weapon class a clearer role. No figures yet.
  • Also listed: squad coordination, vehicle handling, controller responsiveness, progression, more rewards for teamplay and logistics, performance, bug fixes and server stability.

Why is Lonestar getting a bonus?

Lonestar, the blue team, has had a lower win rate than the other two factions. Bulkhead says uniform visibility and some spawns are part of it, but that the team's reputation is the biggest reason players avoid it, so Season 2 runs what it calls a social experiment:

  • Every faction's spawns move on Bakurani. The map →
  • Lonestar uniforms are more desaturated, so they stand out less.
  • Lonestar gets a cash and XP win bonus and cash and XP multipliers, for Season 2 only.
  • Any team at least 40 points behind second place gets 20% off at the vendor. This applies to all three factions.
  • Community server hosts caught exploiting the faction bonus will be punished.

No bonus percentages were given. The factions compared →

What else was in the post?

  • A pre-season press conference. Bulkhead invited press and creators to question the team about Season 2 and posted it in full on YouTube. It calls this a pilot and wants feedback on the format.
  • The 100K Clip Contest was extended by 24 hours, so 9 October is the last day to enter. Winners are picked this weekend and the top 100 and the $100,000 winner are revealed next week.
  • Golden Joysticks: WARDOGS is up for Best Early Access Game, decided by community vote. The nomination →

What is still not confirmed?

No patch notes, weapon or vehicle stats, prices, or a time on 15 October. Bulkhead has also not said whether 15 October resets progress. When progress wipes → The Season 2 trailer, the full patch notes and the maintenance window are all due early next week, and we will add them to the patch notes when they land.
